Irina Soboleva graduated from Moscow State University (Economic Department) in 1978, received her Ph.D. in Economics from Russian Academy of Sciences (1982). Since 2003 is Head of Laboratory for Human Development, Institute of Economics, Russian Academy of Sciences. Prior to her current position was Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Labor Market Studies, Institute of Economics, Russian Academy of Sciences, and Associate Professor of Economics at Moscow Power Engineering Institute. She also taught labor economics in Russian Academy for Entrepreneurship and Modern University for Humanities. Her current research interests are socio-demographic profile of labor market, employment tendencies, time usage patterns, socio-economic security and human development trends in transition economies. Participated in a number of international projects supported by ILO, World Bank, TACIS and CIDA.
