Research Associate Mathew Forstater is associate professor of
economics and black studies and director, Center for Full Employment
and Price Stability, University of Missouri–Kansas City. He
was previously a visiting scholar at the Levy Institute from 1997
to 1999 and taught at Bard College and Gettysburg College from 1992
to 1997, where he was the recipient of a number of teaching awards
and recognitions. Forstater received his B.A. (summa cum laude)
in African American Studies from Temple University (1987) and an
M.A. (Honors, 1993) and Ph.D. (1996) in economics from the New School
for Social Research, New York. He has served as an economic advisor
in a variety of contexts, including a mission sponsored by the ILO
in 2002 to advise Argentina’s Ministry of Labor, where his
proposals for increases in the minimum wage and a public employment
program were made into law. |
