Currently Gisela Carrasco-i-Miró is studying a Diploma “Advanced Studies in Gender” from the Universidad Autónoma de México. She obtained a MSc in Development Economics from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London in London, and have been serving as Economic Adviser at UNIFEM, Liaison Office in Guatemala since October 2007, where she manages the Service Centres for Female Entrepreneurs at the territorial level as well as the Women and Local Economic Development Regional Programme.
Before arriving at UNIFEM, Gisela was working as a Senior Economist in Grupo Intercom in the Department of Business Development in Spain. Also, she taught at the University of Barcelona in Spain, where she was part of a research team in the Political Economics Department. During her studies of Economics at the University of Barcelona received a scholarship to study a one month course in the London School of Economics, London: “International Political Economy”. Gisela has published different papers and articles about gender and economics such as “Service Centres for Female Entrepreneurs for Governance and Internationalization of local economies” in IDEASS-ART; “Una reconfiguración de la sociedad del trabajo”, Género y Empleo, Fundación Carolina, CEALCI, Spain, 2009, “Economics and Development: II Encounter”, UNIFEM, México, 2008.
