Dr. Pinaki Chakraborty is Professor at National Institute of Public Finance and Policy, New Delhi and Member, Finance Commission for the Union Territories, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. He served as Fellow, Senior Economist and Economist at NIPFP, as Associate Professor at Centre for Development Studies and as consultant for the Eleventh Finance Commission of India. He has worked on Role of Fiscal Policy in Poverty-Reduction, Sub-National Public Finances, Budgetary Subsides and Expenditure Incidence, Tax Policy in Developing Countries, Fiscal Federalism and on Gender and Taxation. He is also an Honorary Research Scholar at Levy Economics Institute of Bard College. He is currently engaged in research on implementation and financing issues related to NREGA in India.
