Surajit Das is working at the National Institute of Public Finance & Policy (NIPFP) as ‘Economist’. Submitted (degree awaited) PhD thesis titled “Macroeconomic Policy under a Regime of Free Capital Flows” to the Centre for Economic Studies & Planning (CESP), Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi under the supervision of Prof. Prabhat Patnaik. Done M.A. and M.Phil. in economics also from CESP, JNU. M.Phil. Dissertation topic was ‘A Study of the Effect of Fiscal Deficit on Real Interest Rates”. He has also worked in the 12th Finance Commission of India for more than one and half years, in Planning Commission of India for more than one and half years and in the State Planning Board of Kerala for almost a year before joining NIPFP. Areas of interest are Macroeconomics & Macroeconomic Policy, Public Finance, Human Development and Applied Econometrics. Currently working on the effectiveness of fiscal policy, fiscal monetary interface, CGE modeling of Indian economy, the effect of financial crisis in India and financing human development in eight States in India.
