Alicia Girón is an economist with a Phd in Latin American Studies. She is researcher at the Economic Research Institute and tutor of the Postgraduate Programs on Economic and Latin American Studies of the UNAM. She has the award Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz by his academic trajectory. She belongs to the National Research System.  She has written several books about: Fifty Years of the External Debt (1991); Latin American External Debt (1995); Financial Crises (2002); Japan: Asymmetries and Regulation of the Financial System (2006); Argentina: Its recurrent financial instability and Financial System bankruptcy. She is Coordinator of the Working Group: Gender, Globalization and Development of CLACSO. She was directress of the Economic Research Institute of the UNAM (1994-2002). As president of the Institute she founded the Eurolatinamerican Development Network Celso Furtado:  (www.redcelsofurtado.com) the electronic journal Ola Financiera that gathers different points on the financial situation (www.olafinanciera.unam.mx). She was visiting professor at the of Social Science of the University of Tokyo in Japan; the Department of Economy of the University of Missouri Kansas City (UMKC) and at the Executive Secretariat of CLACSO in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
