Hurshid Hamidulloyevich Rustamov was born on January 9, 1981 in Ferghana region (Ferghana valley) of the Republic of Uzbekistan.  Nationality - Uzbek.  After graduating from Fergana Uzbek-Turkish High School in 1998, during 1998-2002 he studied for his bachelor’s degree in International economics in the Tashkent Institute of Oriental Studies. In 2002-2003 Hurshid attended master’s degree courses in International finance in the University of Glasgow and obtained Master’s degree with distinction. 

From 2004 to 2008 he worked in the Ministry of Economy of Uzbekistan.  During the first two years in the Ministry of Economy he was in the Foreign trade balance forecasting Division where his main duties included monitoring and analysis of the volume and the structures of country’s imports and exports, forecasting of their future tendencies, as well as participating in the process of Uzbekistan’s accession to WTO.  During the latter two years he headed the Financial and Currency Balances Division where his functional responsibilities included the analysis of financial flows in the economy among the households, the government and enterprises, as well as the preparation of annual currency balances of the country in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank.  Since April 2008 Hurshid has been working as the Programme Coordinator in the Economic Governance Unit of UNDP Uzbekistan.  His responsibilities include oversight and coordination of projects in Public finance, statistics and evidence based policy areas.
