Maureen Were has wide experience in economic research,  macroeconomic modelling and gender work.  She has written papers on Kenyan economy, employment, gender, trade,  macroeconomic reforms and policies among others. She is a member of IAFFE and a previous fellow of GEM-IWG. Her research interests include  macroeconomy, labour and financial markets, poverty and macro modelling, including the gender  perspectives. She  has worked at the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis as  a policy analyst and  is currently at the Central Bank of Kenya.  She holds an MA and  PhD in economics.
