Mariama Williams, PhD, is managing partner with Integrated Policy Research Institute (IPRI), a trade consultant and a Research Associate with the International Gender and Trade Network (IGTN). She is also a Director of the Institute of Law and Economics (ILE-Jamaica). Williams is the author of Gender Issues in the Multilateral Trading System (2003), co-author of Gender and Trade Action Guide: A Training Resource (2007), and a consultant adviser on gender and international trade to the Commonwealth Secretariat, London.  She is resource person and a member of the design team for the course/seminar/module: Gender, Trade and Export Promotion, which has been utilized with women’s business associations and governmental institutions in East and Southern Africa, the Caribbean, and South Asia. Williams, who also served on the International Advisory Committee of Progress of the World’s Women—A biennial report published by the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM)—was also a member of the Director General’s Advisory Council (World Trade Organization 2004–2005), a resource person to the Commonwealth Business women’s network, past member of the board of the Association for Women’s Rights and Development (AWID, 2002–2004), and former Research Coordinator Political Economy and Globalization project of DAWN (2003–2008). She is currently on the board of trustees of the Dag Hammershold Foundation, Sweden and a member of the board of trustees of the Center of Concern, Washington, D.C.
