After receiving her undergraduate and master’s degrees from Ankara University in economics, Özlem Albayrak earned her Ph.D. from the Nottingham School of Economics. Since then, Dr. Albayrak has taught several courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels at Ankara University, Nottingham School of Economics, Hunter College (CUNY), and SUNY Potsdam. She worked on a team along with Dr. Serdal Bahçe and Dr. Abuzer Pınar to create Turkey’s first tax microsimulation model, as well as at the Turkish Statistical Institute as a consultant for updating the Siena Microsimulation Model for Turkey. For three semesters in 2015 and 2016, she conducted research at the Levy Economics Institute of Bard College. Her published papers focus on topics such as fiscal theory, inequality, empirical welfare economics, and distributional impacts of fiscal policies and household consumption behavior. She is currently a visiting scholar at the Latin America Institute at the Free University of Berlin.
