Planning for Your Trip
Your room and all meals will be fully provided by EDI/the Levy Institute.
The five days of the workshop will be quite intense and, except for a group excursion to the FDR Presidential Library, you will not have time off-campus to explore. New York can be both cool and hot with the occasional severe thunderstorm. The dormitory you will stay in has air conditioning. Nonetheless, your space may be too warm or cold for your comfort. We recommend packing accordingly as you will be walking outdoors to get around campus.
Travel Options for Sunday, June 15, 2025
We have a shuttle to and from JFK International Airport and Bard College which will be transporting both undergraduate and graduate students. On Sunday, June 15th, the shuttle will be leaving JFK at 5pm EST from the Federal Circle Airtrain stop. This shuttle will bring you to Bard College, which takes approximately two hours. We will have simple meals for you on the bus, but you can get food at the airport before then as well.
If you have your own travel to Bard campus, you may check in to the dorms between 7-9pm on Sunday the 15th. If you choose this option, please tell us in advance.
Travel Options for Saturday, June 21, 2025
On Saturday, June 21st, we will be providing a 9am shuttle from Bard back to JFK Airport.
Unfortunately, if you miss the provided transportation, you will be responsible for the cost and organization of your own transportation to or from Bard – most likely this would mean taking several trains and a taxi from the Rhinecliff station to Bard’s campus. Check out the attached document for reference.
We will send a final google form to collect your travel details and confirm whether or not you plan to take the shuttles on the 15th and 21st.
Your Accommodations
While staying at Bard, you will be assigned a room in either Brown Hall or McCausland Hall, located in the Resnick Commons Residences. See the map below for directions or see the Bard College digital map.
Advisory regarding temperature in the Conference Room (and the Hudson Valley more generally): At this time of year in the Hudson Valley, temperatures can be unpredictable, day to day, and the day-night temperature variation tends to be wider. Please prepare for warm temperatures (45-60 Fahrenheit in the evenings and potential highs in the 80s Fahrenheit during the day). Please bring a waterproof jacket in case of rain. Likewise, please prepare for cool temperatures in the conference room at the Levy Institute, where the workshop will take place, and bring an extra layer.
Communication
We will be starting a group chat in WhatsApp for general communication between participants and us at the Levy Institute.
Please let us know if you have any questions. We are looking forward to seeing you soon!
