Lekha S. Chakraborty is senior economist at the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy (NIPFP), an autonomous research institute of the Ministry of Finance of India. Previously, she worked for the World Bank, the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM), and the Commonwealth Secretariat. She is a member of the International Working Group on Gender, Macroeconomics, and International Economics (GEM-IWG) and has given lectures on gender and fiscal policy for that group’s summer program at the University of Utah. She received an M.Phil. in applied economics and a Ph.D. in economics from the Centre for Development Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
